Yesterday, after shopping-around evening-ish-, Bapak took us all for a stop-over at Changi. Not exactly Changi Beach but the part of Changi where people often go there to fish, relax or just look at aeroplanes flying directly above your head. We bought tidbits before that, so that we could munch on something while enjoying the scenery there.
As for me, I was glad I could take a few photos here and there. I saw a couple of other photographers whom I’m sure are much more experienced than me. There was this one group of young male photographers. I can’t help it but imagine how much fun it would be like to go on a so-called ‘photography expedition’ with a group of peers who share the same interests as me. It would be fun to take photos and then share it your peers so that you’ll be able to hear their different point of views about your so-called skills. We were there only for a short while since we were kind of rushing as we had yet to perform our Asar prayers. I want to be able to sit at a place, or go to a place where I can just take photos at my own time, own target. No pressure or whatsoever. But, better something than nothing at all.

Can’t help it that there’s lots of blues. Whatnot, the sky was blue and so was the sea. The scenery there was awesome and cooling. I wanted to stayed on a while longer so that I’ll be able to at least capture some orange and yellow in my shots but then again, we were only there for a short while.

Since it was near the sea, hence, there were alot of gooey seaweed on shore. I’m sure the mermaids threw them up here. But, being a seaweed lover ( I like those crispy pieces of seaweed that you can buy at shops), I found them quite interesting. Didn’t touch any though cause you never know what might be lurking in them.

This little girl trotted up to me while I was snapping away. I just had to take a photo of her to refrain myself from pinching her chubby cheeks. That was before her mother called out to her to go back. She still didn’t budge, until her mother had to come and get her. Guess she was enjoying the paparazzi treatment.

Hmmm, I don’t know…I like mother nature. Perhaps its due to my inclination towards geography in school. I tend to stoop down to take close-up photos rather than to take something that is directly in front of me. Sometimes, its interesting to find out what might be there under your nose, which might just go unnoticed otherwise.

Bapak in the first picture and Kak Dhirah in the second. The first one looks like some tourist shot at a non-local beach. The people in the background are actually fishing and some of them came back there wet, from swimming I suppose. I remember the times when the maternal family used to go on fishing trips during the weekends. We’ll be by the beach and some of the males would be fishing. I’m not so into fishing but it was pretty exciting to be part of it. Hooking the bait, actually getting a good catch, laughing and eating. Then there were times, when we’ll have barbecues and picnics by the beach or jetty, and we’ll go for swims. I love get-togethers cause somehow, it adds happiness and ease to the atmosphere. But, things are just complicated now. Oh wells, what’s left to do is just reminisce.

The waves weren’t strong and violent yesterday. They were quite boring actually, with the occasional weak hits on the rocks. Credits to Kak Dhirah for the second photo.

So that practically sums up the whole Changi photo-taking hoo-haa. I’ve come to realise that my scope and style is actually quite limited. I need to find new subjects for my photographs and not just use the same things as subjects over and over again, cause they do tend to get boring. And I need to change my style. I need some adventure. I should go on one of those wild random trips and see where it lands me and that would be my next location. I mean, Singapore isn’t that big and I’m sure if I do get lost, I’ll just find a MRT station to get me home. Maybe…maybe one of these days.
