After the trip to Orang Utan Island on the second day, we went to the Ecopark. Yeah, my family is kind of enthu when it comes to nature. Guess there’s just a calming effect to it. At the Ecopark, the visitors are allowed to buy food and feed the animals. Most of the animals there are quite tame and they are not kept in cages. The visitors just walk through nature trail on a wooden platform and feed the animals. Of course, the more dangerous animals such as those carnivores were kept in cages and we were NOT supposed to feed them for obvious reasons.

The birds were very tamed and not afraid, unlike the ones here in Singapore where they fly off at the very first instance when you come near them. I was practically face to face with the birds and I didn’t need to fear the birds fluttering off in my face. A colourful sight aren’t they?

Okay, this is a REAL animal. At first when I saw it just lying there on the fence, I thought it was a soft toy. But, when we got closer, its eyes were glistering and blinking. It is real! I don’t really know what animal this is, but it looks like some sort of a small bear, only that it is not carnivorous and it strictly eats vegetables. We didn’t go too close for fear that it might attack us if it sensed us trying to provoke it.

The otters were damn hungry. They ate anything that we threw down at them. As far as I know, otters don’t eat nuts? But they gobbled the nuts up quickly when it was thrown at them. Got to know that they weren’t fed yet, so that explains their current nature. Poor thing.

This was taken near the cages where the bigger monkeys were kept. The monkeys were furry and cute! Although they did look a bit scary from certain angles. I think the animals there probably aren’t fed that often cause the animals seemed to gobbled up anything that we fed them. Hopefully the Ecopark doesn’t rely on just the visitors to feed the animals. Its not enough.

We sat down for an animal show. At the animal show, they showed us the creativity and the intelligence of their parrots. Their parrots could do magic tricks, play bowling and add! One of the parrots could even play dead! Smart eh? The second part of the show was where they had an otter named Abu that could pick up metal cans and threw them away in the waste paper basket. Hmm…animals too can learn like us humans.

Reptile section was next. This iguana was left just lying around on the wooden platform. Sadly, this iguana has lost part of its tail. The keeper there took out this huge heavy python and a small girl was so scared that she shrieked and she stumbled over this iguana, right in front of my eyes. The iguana got shocked and it started to move away. Luckily it didn’t start running around if not I think more people would be screaming. I got to pat the huge python. Okay, not that big of a deal, but hey…at least it showed that I’m no scaredy-cat.

They even had a pet animals section. There were mice, hamsters, rabbits, gerbils etc. Weird thing is that in the pets section, there were ostriches and goats? Haha…Hamsters! I’m such a sucker for hamsters.

The beauty of the Ecopark, the peacock. It didn’t flare its feather for us to see though. Maybe, we weren’t attractive enough for it to get attracted.

We took a short rest first before proceeding further. There were hotels there at the Ecopark too. The hotels were based on the concept of perkampungan air or also known as house on stilts.

After the long walk through the Ecopark, we went for a ride on the chairlift. I bet the one at Sentosa is better and higher. When we rode on the chairlift, we could see the whole of the Water Park. The people having fun, water splashing etc. We wanted to go there after we got down from the chairlift, but it started to rain instead, so the plan was cancelled. Boo…

Hence, we went to eat ice kachang. Okay lah…the ice kachang not so power.. :/

After the whole day out, we went back to our hotel room to rest. We were leaving for Kuala Lumpur the following day!!
