A Lifelong Affair

It has been way too long since the three of us siblings went out together. I can’t even remember when was the last time we did. Its hard getting all of us to commit to a single date, whatnot with our own commitments and stuff to do. I had my tutoring session earlier today and hence, the three of us could finally have a ‘date’ together. Sometimes, its entertaining going out with only your siblings and with no parents around. Sometimes, I forget how really close we are.

The intention was to head to Raffles and Citylink. Kak Dhirah wanted to get a brand new school bag since forever and she decided that today would be a good time to finally get one. However, we ended up walking around Marina Square. After going through a few shops, she decided that there were none that suited her preferances. Afal proposed on going to Bugis and so Bugis it was. And the bags at Bugis are cheaper anyways, not to mention the possible bargaining. The moment we stepped foot into Bugis, I couldn’t help notice that the weather was scorching mad, and it didn’t help that I was wearing black. Aimed with a cold bottle of water, we began our mission into Bugis Street.

I have to say that Kak Dhirah does make her decisions pretty quick. After a while, she got the bag that she wanted. Can’t say the same for me though. I’m usually indecisive when it gets to shopping. I always end up not buying what I came for, or buying it only a few days later. I guess I just want to make sure that I really like the item and not regret it later on. I didn’t get anything ther whole time we were there. I have been told that I tend to overspend everytime I have cash in my hands-usually, when I get my pay. As a result, I’m left broke and vulnerable for the rest half of the month. I don’t think I am a shopohalic, its just that I have things that I want. To me, the things that I want are essential items such as clothes, shoes and bags. Does that make me shopohalic or materialistic? Mak adviced me the other day to control my bad spending habits and just buy the items that I need and not buy the items that I want. I have to learn to set aside money in case I may need it some other time. Since I got those brown pumps the other day, I’m supposed to lay off the shopping racks for the next few months, unless necessary. The horror!! Especially now with the Great Singapore Sale going on and the temptation is practically staring at me right in the face. Those numbers-30% off, 5 0%off, 60% off-are just calling me! Must practice self-control and not get carried away into more shopping sins. So what I did today was just window-shopping and at the same trying to block out that little voice in my head that was asking me to take out my wallet.

We settled for Long John Silvers for lunch and dinner. Walked around a while more and we were off for home. My legs are practically dying out on me as of now. I should have known better than to walk around alot today after the badminton session yesterday with my little cousins and Kak Dhirah. But, at least the day out was pleasurable-with the laughing, talking and joking around.

Here’s to more future siblings’ date.
