Mak decided on having Mee Soto on today’s menu. So, I helped Mak with the usual kitchen chores such as peeling the onions till I cry, cutting up the chilies and all such. The best part was making the begedel. Smashing the potatoes, making them into small balls and then flattening them. Of course, I would have to say that they’re yummy and not just like some other ordinary begedels. Why? Because I made them.
In other news, I got a call from Nanyang Technological University yesterday afternoon while I was aimlessly surfing the net. I was told that I have been offered the BA(Education) course! I didn’t expect to get a reply that fast seeing that I only went for the interview on Tuesday. Apparently, they are aware that I have been offered a place in the Sociology course and now MOE has offered me the teaching course. So, they wanted to know which course I would be deciding on cause both of these courses are in NTU, only from different schools. I have two places in NTU and hence I only get to choose one. Duh. They said that I should inform them as soon as possible as it would help them facilitate my acceptance when I go online to officially accept one of the courses. Decisions, decisions, decisions. I discussed with my parents and they said that they would support me, regardless of which course that I intend on taking. So, come this morning, I called up NTU and informed them that I have made my decision. After thinking it through and praying yesterday, I have decided to go with my first choice that I stated in the application form, which is to take up the teaching course. So, I’m foregoing Sociology and taking up on teaching, with specialisation in Malay Language and Literature. I’m quite happy actually. It means that I did well during the interview! First time being interviewed and I did quite an okay job.*Pats myself on the back* So, I’ll just have to wait for the letter from MOE/NIE-which according to them is on its way-to make it really official.
Despite the past circumstances, I’m grateful to Allah that he has answered my prayers. Not only that, he gave me more, he showed me more. He made me realised that there are other options out there and no matter what I am thrown with, he is always there to guide me and to show me answers. Thank You. Alhamdulillah.
Taking up the teaching course means serving a total of 8 years bond. 4 years in the National Institute of Education, and another 4 years as a teacher, after graduation. Hence, Bapak says that I should take up this time to learn driving. I am so aware that I am falling behind as compared to other youths my age. Other youths my age have already taken up their licenses or even, some may already have gotten them. I did intend on taking up my driver’s license as soon as I completed my ‘A’ Levels but, something else came up. Something I see as more of a priority than driving. Haha…Hence, I channeled my money towards that instead and I guess driving will have to wait. Not too long I hope!
Can’t wait for school to start. Its about time I get my brain to start working and pumping those juices again. It has been limpy these past few months.
